Robotics

This year’s Engineering Expo Robotics Competition will be a round robin tournament consisting of several matches between competing teams’ remote-controlled robots. In these matches robots, will enter the engage in a three-way contest to score as many points possible. Scoring is done by collecting a tennis ball and dropping into any of two difficult to reach scoring bins.

However, there is a catch. The teams will have to compete in a rather aggressive environment. The robots are allowed to be slightly disgruntled, and have permission to bump and thump their way to the top. Competitors will be allowed to push, shove, and meddle with each other as they try to score. This competition takes a simple collect-and-drop competition, and gives it a more aggressive twist.

There will be six of these matches to determine which teams will go on to the championship series, where cash prizes are at stake. This competition is not only a test of robot functional design, but also a test of endurance.
