Parking

Buses

Bus drop-off and pick-up for schools on Thursday, April 16th and Friday, April 17th will be on the east side of Breese Terrace (see map below in the next section). Buses will then be asked to park at an off campus location while your class is visiting Expo. Directions will be provided to the bus drivers when they arrive at Expo. It will be up to your bus driver to arrive back at Breese Terrace at the time your class would like to depart. Please make sure that your bus driver does not arrive back more than 10 minutes before your desired departure time. Lastly, please organize your students on Breese Terrace in preparation for loading your bus. Hopefully, this will speed up the loading process and reduce congestion.

Cars

Parking for cars and vans will be available in Lot 17 on the Engineering Campus (see map at the end of this packet). The rates for Lot 17 are $5 for a half day or $8 for a full day. A parking attendant will be on duty collecting money at the ramp entrance.

If you need to make handicap parking arrangements please contact us. We will give you instructions for an alternate drop-off location as well as an alternate parking location.

School parking map

In the above map the bus drop-off zone is highlighted in yellow. Buses will need to drop-off students on the east side of N. Breese Terrace between Hoyt St. and University Ave. Parking for cars will be in Lot 17, outlined in red on the map below. Note: Lot 17 can be reached from Engineering Drive only.

Check-in

Once your school arrives at Expo, an Expo volunteer will greet you at your bus. Directions for off campus parking will be given to the bus driver at this time. The lead chaperone will be asked to proceed to the school check-in booth located between Engineering Centers Building, Mechanical Engineering and Lot 17. There will be two lines at check-in, one for schools that have paid and one for non-paid schools. Your lead chaperone will check-in your school, finalize or confirm payment for tickets, and receive event programs and copies of the scavenger hunt. The chaperone will then have the option of returning to the bus to or having us walkie-talkie a volunteer to send their students down to meet them.

School check-in will be located between Engineering Centers Building, Mechanical Engineering and Parking Lot 17 as indicated by the red star on the map above.

Meals

There will be food vendors at Expo: Rocky Rococo’s, E2 Engineering Eatery, and University Food Service. Meal prices range from around $4.00 to $6.00. Schools bringing their own lunches will be allowed to place their bags and coolers in room 1002 Engineering Centers Building. A volunteer will be there to help you drop-off and pick-up your students lunches. In order to avoid congestion on the routes, I ask that after your school has dropped off your student’s lunches, you proceed on a route other than the Engineering Centers Building route.

During lunch time, there will be several places throughout the engineering campus for your students to eat lunch. Make sure that your students dress appropriately to eat outside, because there is very limited indoor seating. In case of rain, there will be tents set up outside for students to eat lunches. Rocky Rococo’s and University Food Service will be set up between Engineering Centers Building and Mechanical Engineering and E2 Engineering Eatery is in the Engineering Hall Lobby.

There are a couple of main locations where there is space for your students to eat lunch. There will be tables set up between Engineering Centers Building and Mechanical Engineering, this location will have tents in the event of rain. Also, there is a patio in front of Engineering Research Building and there will be some space around Engineering Mall (the green space across from Engineering Hall), just make sure to avoid exhibits in these locations. The indoor location is inside the lobby of Engineering Hall, there are a variety of booths and tables for your students to sit.

T-Shirts

Engineering Expo 2009 t-shirts will be for sale during Expo for $10.00 in front of Engineering Hall. Sizes available are S – XL. Below is a depiction of the front and back of the t-shirts.
